It was time to repeat the Arenzano-Crevari Trail at the onset of summer in Italy. We started early and packed some food near the Arenzano center and started towards the road behind the main Church that shows different waymarked trails. This time the climb was to Passo della Gava and then possibly continue further to land up somewhere near Genova. (Apparently, we did near Genova Cornigliano). The initial walk could be avoided if the mode of transport is by car since we were starting from the Church, we kept climbing on these curvy roads leading to the starting point. It reminded me of the start that I had in Gran Trail Rensen 2019. To our surprise (due to the Covid-19 relaxations), we noticed a group of people starting to hike towards the pass/ for birdwatching (http://www.parcobeigua.it/birdwatching.php). The views were stunning as one could see a series of ridges with waterfalls and the Mediterranean Sea in the backdrop.
The view from Passo della Gava was splendid as the clouds were moving towards the nearby mountains. We noticed MTBers returning back from the pass and while moving towards the Crevari route, we noticed few campers on the opposite ridge.
It was a perfect place for practicing trail runs. We had a quick pitstop for lunch and then we started speedhiking towards Genova end. This is one route I love the most, as it has a narrow trail with ledges and forest paths landing in a small village with a stunning sea background. As we proceed further, we noticed two trail runners coming from Crevari side (good uphill training) . The village you end up in Crevari, is tiny and every house had a small garden with fresh veggies.
