The next day morning I had time to explore Padum and run up to Karsha Gompa which was like 8kms from Padum. I was supposed to meet Peter the next day, so I thought its an ideal day for having acclimatizing runs around the region, which is already at 3000m altitude.

I walked around Padum first to see the village and experience its rustic feel and heritage.

Mani stones are  stone plates, rocks and/or pebbles, carved or inscribed with the six syllabled mantra of Avalokiteshvara.

Karsha Gompa

I was able to run in the hot conditions with my backpack till Karsha, soon after I received a message from Maniraj, saying that Peter has arrived in Padum and he is not able to contact me. So I had to run back 8 km asap to catch up with my friend to start the ultrajourney.
