Aug 26,2016 we got off the bus in Dalhousie and prepared ourselves. I was fitting the bike tires, pumping in the tubes, setting up the saddle bags etc. At the last moment, I had to switch bike with Bakiyaraj, trekker and a friend who was kind enough to give his bike as he also wanted to know the capabilities of his TREK mountain bike. We had withdrawn some cash from nearby ATM, got some backup medicine near a pharmacy and all set to start from Dalhousie. The weather was clear and sunny.

Both of us were high on energy and excited. While my friend was running at a constant pace, I was pedaling in a relaxed manner. The climbs were enjoyable and both of us were aware , things were about to change in 3 days time once we are higher altitude.

The plan was to do 50k per day and we ended up covering 62 kms staying close to Kalhel. We noticed beautiful bridges and dense pine forests before reaching the campsite. It became dark quite early and we found a nice spot next to a dhaba where we eat egg fried noodles and took a night dip in the stream before pitching our tents in the campsite next to the stream.

A short drizzle
